FAQs

If you’ve made it this far, there’s a good chance you already have an inclination that you might need the support of a professional organiser. Hopefully the information on this site will help you towards making a decision, but do remember that an initial consultation is free, so you have nothing to lose by reaching out for a chat!

The first step is to get in touch with me so we can set up an initial meeting to talk about your situation and needs. The process is a personal one and different for everyone, so it is important that we use the consultation not only for me to learn more about you and your goals but also to provide you with the opportunity to understand the process and ask any questions you may have. We will then agree on a way forward, and if you choose to proceed, we will schedule your first session.

No, it is important that I see your space the way it usually is. That way we will be able to work together to create realistic storage solutions and organising processes for continued use. I also suggest that you do not purchase any new storage boxes or solutions before we begin, as it is often the case that items you already have in your home can be repurposed. If you need new storage, we can talk about the best options to make sure you get something that will meet your needs in the long run.

The answer to this will vary for everyone depending on their personal goals. Decluttering is often part of the organising process, so it is helpful to prepare yourself for this. On the other hand, organising your home does not necessarily mean removing many items, often it is simply a case of finding a home for everything. Either way, you will never be forced to remove anything from your home; these are your possessions, so the decision is up to you.

Once again, this will differ for everyone and depend on what you are trying to achieve. I recommend running sessions in 3-hour blocks and working in a focused way to ensure we can make the most of our time together. We will discuss timing during the consultation before agreeing on a proposed schedule.

Organising and decluttering can be an emotional process, so the pace at which we work will vary depending on you and the area we are focusing on. Your objectives and goals may change after we begin the process, so we will review them at the end of each session before deciding whether or not to proceed.

Absolutely. Sort Your Space provides a fully private and confidential service. Your personal information will be kept in the strictest confidence. For further information please see our privacy policy.

I would like to reiterate that you should not worry about being judged. I am here to support and guide you through the process. It’s up to you who you tell (if anyone), but other people living in your home will need to know, especially if you want to organise communal spaces.
